i have a map for both upstairs and downstairs. but now, when i take my 5smax downstairs, restore the downstairs map and tell it to clean, it automatically switches to the map to the upstairs map and proceeds to destroy it - putting new rooms on it that's don't exist. i have tried repeatedly to stop cleaning, restore the downstairs map, and start cleaning again, but it keeps switching.
the hardware for this thing is amazing, the software is complete garbage. fix it.
HI, sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Actually the robot can scan its environment to figure out which floor it's on and uses the corresponding map to clean automatically. In other words, it won't follow the map you selected.
Please check if the steps you've taken to create the multiple floor maps are correct or not in the first place.
1. Tap the "Edit map" button on the bottom right corner of the map, and choose "My Map" from the pop-up banner.
2. Turn on the "Map saving (Beta)" function, switch the "Home" section from "Single-story" to "Multi-story". Please make sure you've tapped the checkmark icon on the top right corner of the screen after you've chosen "Multi-story", otherwise the setting wouldn't be saved.
3. Please create the map for the main floor by tapping the "Create", and then the"Clean"option. Make sure the robot starts from the dock and returns to the dock, without interruption during the process.
4. When you plan to create the map for the second floor, please make sure there's WIFI coverage there.
5. Make sure the robot is now located on the other floor. Then press "Create", and "Clean". The robot will speak "Starting to clean". Please wait until it completed the cleaning, and don't manually move the robot or interrupt the process.
You can check the attached photos for your reference.
i already have multiple maps, you comment above makes it sound like you didn't read my original post.
i have a map for my downstairs area. i can 'restore' that map in the app and it shows in the app. however, when i choose 'full, clean' it just clears the map, says "no map found", and "positioning".
Hi, thanks for reaching out. The robot can automatically load the correct map after it locates its position on any of the saved maps.
The robot may take some time to compare its environment with the information saved in the map to get positioned. If there's significant change in room configuration, the robot may not find the map accordingly.
Our suggestion is to delete the current map and let the robot do a round of full cleaning to rescan the environment and create a new map.
