We've added an internal protection design in the firmware updates.
When brush's running faces high friction like on a carpet for a certain period, the brush will stop running to protect robot. But the pause is temporary and the brush will resume running. The process will be in circle if brush keeps facing high friction.
That is reason why you may see robot's main brush or side brush stop running. When robot is running on carpet, the rolling brush and side brush are not helping collect stuff much and suction is the main tool. The suction strength will increase to max automatically when the robot reaches the carpet if you have enabled the carpet mode.
