Roborock S6 MaxV inconsistent behavior when starting without dock

Hi,

I have an S6 MaxV and I am using the multi-floor feature. When I use the vacuum on my main floor, where the dock is, I never have any issues.

When I use it on my upper floor or my basement, which were mapped without the dock, I am having some very inconsistent behavior. Sometimes, when asked to vacuum an additional floor, or just some of the rooms on the additional floor, the vacuum completes its task, returns to its starting point, and then stops (announcing that it cannot find the dock).

Other times, unfortunately, it instead starts driving everywhere it can possibly reach, looking for a dock that is not there (and was never there, since the floor was mapped without a dock). This is particularly frustrating when I have it only vacuum selected rooms on that floor, since it does not limit itself to those rooms when looking for the dock. There was a reason I did not have it go in those other rooms this time!

I am on the latest firmware, and I can't find any pattern to understand why it is behaving correctly sometimes (returning to its non-docked starting position and stopping there) and other times it is futilely looking for the dock.

Is there something I need to be doing differently? If this is a bug, will it be fixed in a future firmware update?

Thanks!

  • Hi, we feel sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Could you please double check if the steps to create multiple floor map are correct or not? Especially the 5th step.

First of all, please make sure there's WIFI coverage on the other floor.

If there is, kindly follow the steps below to create the multi-floor maps:

    1. Tap the "Edit map" button on the bottom right corner of the map, and choose "My Map" from the pop-up banner.

    2. Turn on the "Map saving (Beta)" function, switch the "Home" section from "Single-story" to "Multi-story". Please make sure you've tapped the checkmark icon on the top right corner of the screen after you've chosen "Multi-story", otherwise the setting wouldn't be saved.

    3. Please create the map for the main floor by tapping the "Create", and then the"Clean"option. Make sure the robot starts from the dock and returns to the dock, without interruption during the process.

    4. When you plan to create the map for the second floor, please make sure there's WIFI coverage there.

    5. Make sure the robot is now located on the other floor. Then press "Create", and "Clean". The robot will speak "Starting to clean". Please wait until it completed the cleaning, and don't manually move the robot or interrupt the process.
